The story behind this song is about a serious car crash, which involved Mrs. Isla Grant, and her husband, the singer, Al Grant. Their was car was hit by a lorry, and for months Isla lay in a come; never knowing if she would sing again.
Dodging the Bullet
Although I've never been involved in such a serious accident, my recent blog http://alsdomain.weebly.com/free-reads/dodging-the-bullet tells of the many times I have nearly been blinded, or come close enough to death to be concerned.
1978 European Cup Final, and Germany.
What the blog doesn't tell is about the time I stared down the barrel of a gun at the 1978 European Cup Final in Munich, or the time travelling on the motorway from Germany to Clevedon, when I was in my friend's car, and in driving rain we almost hit a stranded car. The car was stopped in the middle lane, and we just avoided hitting it. When we got back to my parent's house I found ALL the wheel nuts, on ALL the wheels were about to spin off. I hate to think what would have happened if I hadn't spotted them, my friend had two hours driving to his parent's home in Symond's Yat ahead of him, involving cross the River Severn.
The following summer, a group of us decided to have a camping vacation down the Rhine. On one of the trips I had to go up a mountain in a chair lift - scary enough - for somebody with a phobia of heights, worse was to come. As I tried to get off a box of chocolates in my back pocket jammed in the slatted seat; the chair turned to return, with me sitting on the front, and my feet barely touching the ground; below I could see the tree tops; I have never felt panic as much as I did then.
My dream come true
One of my dreams is to sell $10 worth of e-books a month, this I have achieved on each of the last three months. I never thought I'd see the day, when I stood on the verge of back-to-back $20 months; as I write this blog, I am two sales from $20 this month.
