Most writers would admit, we put a certain element of ourselves in our characters -- I think it's necessary to make the characters come to life -- it is well known among the few people who read my blogs or the Chronicles books, Mark and I share lots of similarities. Not only the loathing for the celebrity scene, but the feel for nature photography and for real people.
Not many people -- including close friends -- know I was paid for my photography at the last Bridgnorth Folk Festival -- the festival became so popular it had to move to Shrewsbury in 2006 -- the reason not many people know about this is simple, it never came up in conversation.
As I changed from photojournalist to writer, I became more like my character P A Canella. Who wanted to be well read, and yet remain unseen. This was the concept for my original set of stories featuring him, Rachel and Lana Pawcel.
