Any of my close friends would tell, I am unlike him in that respect, if I had the health and resources I would gladly return to Scarborough, as I found the town so peaceful and got a lot of writing done during my final visit in 2010.
He was spoilt for choice living in France and with so many lovely cities within reach, I did visit Italy once on a trip from Innsbruck, Austria Our party crossed over the Brenner Pass-not to be undertaken if you have a fear of heights as the bridge is several hundred feet up-and visited Vipiteno which is a South Tyrolean village about half from Innsbruck to Bolzano.
The narrow streets are dominated by a 15th Century church, which had its roof replaced after a fire in the late 19th Century. One of my lasting memories is of a fantastic cheese shop, the walls from the door to the counter about fifty feet away were filled with cheeses.
I never wanted to visit Venice, but I would loved to have seen Turin, Florence or Milan.
