Three years ago I wrote the story Holding Richmond, and entered it in a contest; as it was too short the story never got in. In the time after the contest, HR became my best selling story on Amazon.
Two years ago I wrote Spheroid and entered it in a Sci-Fi contest in Canada, today after only three days on B&N it has made its opening sale :)
I put it on partially to see if my previous record could get some action for an otherwise dead story.
