For many years I was under the impression my English teacher was one of my early driving forces as I thought he saw my potential, I was wrong about that as he said I was not very good at writing.
The strangest thing was my Science teacher said "If Alan would ask more questions in class; I am sure this subject (physics) would suit his inquisitive mind and his ability to research matters," I had never thought of Sciences as my strong point but the the part about researches stands true, even to this day; I often start an on line search and end up somewhere else thinking how did I get here from there?
I wrote an article for a jazz magazine in the UK which illustrated the power of my memory well; a lady asked what happened to the trumpeter Fred Smith who used to perform with a band; I looked him up and recognised him as the father in the series "Mork & MIndy." I wrote the article complete with a series of links and photo inserts telling his story and got a reply thanking me for the information.
Another instance of my memory is the series "Criminal Minds," I remember seeing the head of the unit in another series but for a while I couldn't remember where. I had to Google his name as it was plaguing me; I found out he was in a short lived series called "Dharma & Gregg," this series only ran for a couple of years before "Will & Grace" came on the scene and I only caught a few glances of him as I was working nights most of the time the show was shown in the UK, but his face stuck with me.
When I returned to my room on Monday after going out for the day ; I had the strangest thought , I had this dream that somebody emailed me from the US and said they wanted to put Chronicles of Mark Johnson on the screen, naturally my first reaction would be- Oh yes, I wasn't born yesterday, nice try but I'm not falling for the hoax LOL
