Yet again, the price of running a FREE blog is driven home. On Monday, there were over 1,600 posts read by over 1,000 people. The net result, no sales. Obviously my work is great to read if it's FREE, but nobody is interested enough to pay a few nickels and dimes for months of work.
This has been the worst month for sales, beyond any doubt. In January I joined Draft2Digital, although I was only on the site for three days I sold three e-books. After over three weeks of this month, I have only sold two e-books, and I can foresee no improvement as my sales trend for the last four months has been downwards.
It is indicative of the low value the readers attach to my work, when the book I sold on Kobo equalled the best selling books on both Amazon, and Draft2Digital this month.
At times like this, I wonder, as much as I enjoyed my writing is it worth continuing? My ghost stories never sold, and I have stopped writing them. My award winning e-book Chronicles of Mark Johnson has not sold in the two years since the award was given. A Sailor's Love, my ghost romance came out two weeks ago, and looks as if it will sink without a sale. Another year, and three months work for nothing.
