In the year since joining Draft2Digital, I have sold over 120 e-books, which exceeds my wildest dreams. I never thought my Sci-Fi would go so well. Forgestriker has taken over 80% of the sales, and thereby hangs the sword of Damocles.
I have over 35 e-books for sale, and only the first three in the Forgestriker series - Sons of Baal, Forgestriker and Return of the Lost - have sold well. Of the 100+ sales for the series, Forgestriker has sold nearly 60.
I am a relative success because I didn't complete any of my goals.
I never wanted to be an Amazon top seller, as one lady I know is. I have had books regularly in the top 20 of the ghost anthology of Amazon.UK.
Nor did I expect to make the large sums of money some writers claim to have made. The $50 I made on Forgestriker is good enough for me.
To sell 10 copies of an e-book in a month (it was in a day, but a month is more reasonable).
To make $10 in one month, the closest I got was last month.
I have cut my bucket list to attainable targets, today I realized through an error of mine, I have probably cost myself one of my goals - writing for http://www.blacklibrary.com/Warhammer_ they wanted a 500 word excerpt, and I sent in over 1,000 words. The error was because I changed font size, and line spacing . On the up side, I can now put the story out as mine, rather than as one of the group. It would have been nice to have been accepted though, oh well.
