In this modern era, this is how I feel. I am classed as disabled and have a heart condition and yet our house has had no heating for almost two weeks-this happens every year, we are fine until the heating engineers do an annual check and then we go without heat for a month.
Owing to the age of the houses in the area-most are over 20 years old, Bristol City Council condemned the gas heaters over three years ago, and since then we have had a hole in the wall which lets in the cold-the family need to use sleeping bags to stay warm, even in the summer.
Several years ago, Bristol elected a Pakistani Lord Mayor, one of his earliest quotes was "I want to do more for our people," at the time I was curious about who "our people" were-I did have my suspicions, which have been proven correct-why say "our people" and not (!) "our city," because he meant the Asian population.
I am not supposed to drink too much coffee as it is an insulin inhibitor and makes my diabetes worse, but how am I expected to keep warm, when my body temperature drops rapidly as soon as I get out of bed. Coffee and biscuits are my meals for the day, so you can see, I can't afford to run this blog any more.
