The discussion involves the shows Friends and Will and Grace-I make no bones about my choice, W&G.
Let's take a look at the shows:-
Friends, an ensemble group about 6 people who spend most of their time either in each others apartments or at Central Perk coffee shop. For the first few seasons I did enjoy the show and then it became so much of the same-would Ross and Rachel get married? When was Chandler going to pop the question to Monica?
They did have some episodes I enjoyed, notably the 'Geller ball incident.'
The two real characters were Rachel and Joey-a shame the series 'Joey' didn't catch on, I liked it.
I find it hard to believe Friends ran for 10 seasons when W&G only did 8.
Will and Grace, a series with multiple good characters-even minor ones such as the gay Beverley Leslie.
The series was never bound to one set, true they did spend a lot of time in their apartments or at Grace's work, but things were happening and the characters evolving, not sitting idly drinking coffee.
The plot had many twists, and the ending was a classic when all things expected turned on each other for a happy ending-too many great episodes to choose a favourite :)
The success of Friends was because it was put in the prime 9:00 pm slot, and in my opinion the fall of W&G was because it had Gay and Lesbiam plot lines, which at the time were a touchy topic; but that is what the series was about-Will's reluctance to accept who he was.
I appreciate both shows had many followers and I did say the post would be controversial for a change-I used to enoy W&G, the show always cheered me up.
