I have asked myself this question many times, and each time, I get the same answer.
Quality does not matter, eye-candy does. Many people, including people I have had no contact with, tell me I am a good story-teller, yet I remain in doubt.
The only gauge I have is sales, and they keep falling.
I have a friend who complained she made only $300 last year. ONLY $300, hell she made MORE in a month, than I have made this year, why? She writes fanfiction based on "The Walking Dead."
Perhaps, I was good, who knows? My sales never were impressive, I had one good month (March), since then it has been downhill all the way.
I always said I would never sell out, but perhaps the time has come.
What I write has not sold, and I am leaning to trying to write for what does sell, rather than what I want to write.
I am considering this as the last straw. I chased the butterfly dream for so long, in the end the butterfly flew off and left me in a heap.
