Back in the late 1970's, in the days before massive budgets and CGI, films and shows depended on good scripts and acting.
One show that stuck with me was The Hanged Man http://www.itssolastcentury.co.uk/lounge/Television_Shows/The_Hanged_Man/
starring Colin Blakely as Lew Burnett.
Burnett was a builder, who spent the series trying to find out who wanted him dead.
I caught up with the book of the series, a few years later during my time in Scotland. Why would I read the book of the series you ask?
The answer is I missed the beginning of the series, so I had no idea what was the force behind the plot, and I missed the end, so I didn't find out if Lew Burnett solved the mystery.
Other TV series I hope to catch up with are The Lotus Eaters http://www.mjbird.org.uk/lotuseaters.html. As a strange coincidence, I found out while researching the stars that Ian Hendry's wife died from the illness I have https://www.bhf.org.uk/heart-health/conditions/cardiomyopathy/hypertrophic-cardiomyopathy.
The other two main series I am trying to get are The Aphrodite Inheritance
Who pays the ferryman? http://television.thedigitalfix.com/content/id/879/who-pays-the-ferryman.html and The Dark side of the Sun https://www.eurekavideo.co.uk/classics/dark-side-sun.
I would love to locate two books from my reading at that time - I have no names/authors - one is about a man who takes his family back to France after #WW2 and meets a man he thinks betrayed his resistance cell to the Germans. The reason I want to locate the book is to find out its name/ author - the story was so bad I gave up after 120 pages; the first 20 pages were good but then it became like driving in a blizzard, you go on in the hope of getting out.
The second book is one I want to read - the story is set in modern Greece - the premise of the story is about a group of fishermen who trawl up some lost files containing the works of Lord Byron http://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems-and-poets/poets/detail/lord-byron. The only thing I can recall is the cover had a picture of a young girl at a desk looking at her computer screen.
