Many years ago, we got a dog from the Bristol Cats & Dogs home, we fell in love with the cute face. She was the only dog in a cage, in an area of cats.
Bonnie AKA "Binky," stole our hearts from the beginning. We didn't know her background, but we were sure she had some Collie in her history.
After about 18 years, I had the sad task of putting her down; she was going blind & deaf, she was senile, and her back legs had seized with arthritis. I could have let her live, but for her sake, as she was in so much pain; I ended her misery.
To this day, I see her lovely face, and hear that final bark, she knew I didn't want to do the job, but she knew I did it for her, to stop her suffering.
For several months after her death, I could feel her on my legs as I climbed our stairs.
And to this day, I cry for her loss; she was a lovely dog, and never once bit anyone.
Manchester Dogs Home.
Over the next few weeks, I hope to gather some stories of our time, and write a short e-book; any money from sales will go to the Manchester Dogs Home, who suffered a terrible disaster this weekend.
