I started out to be recognized as a writer, and ended up being known for the success of my Science Fiction series www.linkedin.com/pulse/success-my-science-fiction-series-still-amazes-me-after-alan-place/
Music to relax to
I have stopped #writing, if you wish to listen to what I do, you can follow this board www.pinterest.co.uk/alanplace/accuradio/
Plagued by words
Try as we may, there’s no escape from words.
On days when I don’t feel like even doing a post, I’m surrounded by books and DVDs. Somebody had to write the story I am reading, or the script for the film I am watching. Years ago, I almost had a story on the radio but there were too many contestants for a few places.
I’ve got work in several anthologies but none have helped my e-book sales
A writer's life
At the end of last year, my editor asked me to judge how many short stories I had written, the idea was to convince me that my writing has value.
At the time of the question, I had written close to 400 short stories, and only thrown two out. As I haven't written much this year because sales have continued to fall https://www.draft2digital.com/book/34522, the figure is about the same.
No birthday treat for me :(
With ten days to my birthday, I have given up hopes of seeing my hit series hereiamattheedge.blogspot.co.uk/2014/04/forgestriker-hit-series.html#.Wdog_Ut97rc of Science Fiction e-books reach 800 sales hereiamattheedgeblogspotcouk.wordpress.com/2017/09/08/yikes/
A joint project for Halloween
This collection of stories disqus.com/home/discussion/channel-writingworld/old_church_ghosts_collaboration/#disqus_thread that I started is the third time I have been asked to join with other writers, the other two times the projects fell apart.
My disability won after the 18 year battle
I thought my muse may return, but with my disability spreading through my body by the day – It’s a bad day, even by my standards. With my painkillers, I got to sleep at 4:00 am, and only woke an hour ago (4:30pm).
I have a pain in my right that makes typing painful, and that has extended to the wrist now. – I won’t make a difference now, as writing is so painful.
So, this is it, my time is over as a writer, I can only thank my readers and hope they enjoyed my ebooks (nobody told me). The books are still for sale on https://www.draft2digital.com/book/ and https://www.amazon.com/-/e/B007U50BOI.
In the end, it was my disability and not my mental torment that brought an end to things for me
A new genre for me
Book signings hereiamattheedge.blogspot.co.uk/2015/11/book-signings.html#.WbkDNRmGPrc are a running joke between me and my close friends.
I go to some at our branch of Waterstones but the thought of doing one myself is daunting, the only time I tried to beat my fear of public speaking it came back and bit me hereiamattheedge.blogspot.co.uk/2015/05/a-year-ago.html#.WbkEChmGPrc
I suppose if I turn my last e-book www.draft2digital.com/book/235628 into a paperback, I will need to consider doing a signing
These days, yes I can
In short, the answer is yes.
At one time, the thought of writing 40,000 words was daunting, but these days if I can get into a story I see no reason why I could not pass 50,000 words. I stopped A Sailor’s Love https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07226FRDK at 35,000 words, not because the story ended but because after writing and living the story for 14 months, I decided I would not see enough reward for my time.
I was right, after over two years on sale, not a copy has been sold, despite friends of a friend saying they would buy copies to help her promote her cd’s.
