With the news yesterday https://disqus.com/home/discussion/channel-indieworld/breaking_news/ of the contract; I will need to use my VR software https://disqus.com/home/discussion/channel-indieworld/voice_recognition_software/to complete my future books as my hands are so painful.
Just a blogger now
Along time ago, I gave up my dream of being a published author, that is why I became a self-published writer.
This month, I made the decision to stop self-publishing my work, from now on, other than my blogs, my work will be seen on https://disqus.com/home/channel/indieworld/.
Join the discussions
You are invited to join in the discussions on my channel on Disqus https://disqus.com/home/channel/indieworld/.
Under discussion will be most things to do with my work, life, and thoughts on how my writing is progressing. Please, feel free to ask what you wish to know, I am an open book, and will answer most questions.
Another channel to look in on is the one run by my friend, Sarita,https://disqus.com/home/channel/sarah her channel is profoundly pro-Israeli/US, as I am.
One of the requests I have been asked to write is one that many of my online friends have asked over the years, and that is to recount my years in the Royal Air Force. I am doing my best, but you need to know that period of my life was over 45 years ago.
For some time, I have known that my Google blog has a substantial following in the old Soviet states, and today's figures give me more proof as most of the readers are from Chechnya.
I have often been asked, why I get such a strong response from the old Russia, I have no definitive answer, but I think they like my style of gritty writing. I am more used to writing about life, and its struggles as in the Harry Palmer novels, than the glamorous role of spies like James Bond.
When I was on Upwork as a ghostwriter, I was asked to write a story for a client like the James Bond stories, but I couldn't as I cannot relate to the lifestyle of the wealthy.
The Haunted Mesa
Several years ago when I was living with a lady friend in Canada, she recommended to me the book The Haunted Mesa by Loius L'Amour as we both love to read western fiction.
I have to say, I love his WF, but this was something or nothing, it started well, but after 50 pages you get the feeling the writer is at a loss as to where to go. The main character spends his time wandering around the village thinking he's being followed, this goes on for over 80 pages with nothing happening.
While I admired his WF, this was not his forte, I am not sure if he wrote this thinking his rep for WF would save his rep as a writer, or if he wrote the story not caring what happened as he died shortly after finishing the story.
It is not known that my earliest stories were western fiction.
will I ever see myself as a bestseller?
To some people, I am seen as a BestSeller, follow this link disqus.com/home/discussion/channel-indieworld/will_i_see_myself_as_other_people_do/#disqus_thread to find out why I am not one of those people
I don't count Amazon in these figures - as I have not sold anything there since I can recall.
Most authors won't tell you what they earn.
Here are my figures; I have 35+ e-books on nine sales platforms, and still make earn less than $1 a week as a writer.
Changing your mind
One of the problems of being a ghostwriter is you are at the mercy of the client, who could change their mind, as mine did several times within two weeks. The result was I cancelled the deal, and she never got this story that she asked me to write disqus.com/home/discussion/channel-writingworld/elfenmere/, as the start of a children's series.
I have earned several reputations as a writer
Readers who have followed me for years will know that I earned reputations for writing in several genres. My earliest reply was for supernatural/ spiritual stories, later came crime, and finally science fiction.
I am not sure if this is a bonus. My Amazon bestseller is fiction based on a Victorian mystery. The only book to get a 5-star rating is based on a spiritual adventure.
If I am to continue as a writer, the time has come to think about getting Dragon software to help me as most days both of my wrists are strapped up for support
