Today I started to rewrite Mordhiem, from the beginning at the fires. This will be a major undertaking for me. In the time in between, I shall bring out smaller stories too. The whole series is series of shorter stories which I decided last year to combine into a bigger version ( a bad trait that I have), the current range is 70+ pages and about 21K words, but this is by no means even half done.
The recent news of my article being spotted by a friend at Sky.com has now developed a new thread. Bryan Wade (seen here leading Vic Eastood -AJS - and Andy Gill), the former British 250cc & 500cc moto-X champion; the only rider to hold both titles at the same time has asked for some of the scans I have done, my scans are now half-way across the globe in Borneo. Talk about a safari LOL
Chronicles book 2, chapter 2 of 6 is almost done and my editor Julia is really impressed with the overall scary feel that it imparts to the reader :)
I know this means nothing at all but it could amount to something. About a week ago, a film executive from Hollywood was checking over my LinkedIn profile and today a respected screenwriter asked me to join her circle. As usual, I will jump for joy IF something happens.
The closure of my FB group Blogs4U will go ahead at the end of the month.
It was nice seeing you all in there, and I will miss you. But, things since the announcement in October are just getting worse. This is NOT an attention seeker. It IS a sad farewell.
I started out with the intentions of trying to help a few friends and ended up with a dwindling group, and feeling as though the group had been to look like a fool.
Some we invited never arrived, others came and left without a word. Some used us in some childish games of spamming. I feel the group no longer serves the purpose I set it up for, if it did at all.
There are many more groups all better equipped to do you well, all you have to do is type Indie/ Writer or Kindle in the search engine and you will get so many groups, that you will lose track of them.
I need time to sort out some things out, the group will officially remain on FB for now. But will be closed off. I can't say when or even if it will re-open. I will also stop blogging at this time, although I will continue to write my stories.
Today, I am starting a spooky version of my most popular story. It has a well documented history on the blog, but this is an adult version. With luck and a good rate of work, it should be out by the end of next week and on sale from my blog.
This is the re-start to my work after a long period of doubts, I will still be going off line at the end of the month as things are not good at the moment for me, and I need some down-time. I will continue to write as I have stories aplenty to tell.
I wonder about the logicality of my thoughts a lot of the time. The recent matter in hand concerned my ability to write a Sc-Fi story. I tried to do the serial, which has collapsed in a horrid mess after 14 weeks (I may decide to continue it, just for the book), but now I plan on writing a new Sci-Fi story.
This was planned to be a part of The Word, but will now be a stand alone story. The problem was Angie's cover needed a good story, I just hope that I am up to it.
You see me holding the second anthology containing my work (the other is A Spooky Fall Harvest), and yet I still staunchly refute claim to being classed as a published author - why? - read on.
To some people, once you put an article out to be read you can class yourself as published. To others, it is getting in print that counts. For me, it is having my book printed that matters.
To give you examples, I have had articles printed in various magazines in the UK from the early 1970's up until about five years ago. They ranged from teen fantasy (ala EL James) to articles on folk/ country/ jazz music and motorcycling.
In 2011 I had my first on line publication with Vintage Script magazine, which was followed by one in a US on line magazine, for months last year I was regularly putting articles in Angie's Diary.
More recently, as you know I have been involved with various charity anthologies with the Peacock Writers and now Indies In Action, but at no time did I claim to be published. To me, I can only do that IF I get one on my books published, as I say it it just a personal view.
The books are now on sale at the low prices.
Before I get to the main article, I would like to say something. Just over a year ago, three great friends asked me to send my stories out in the world. Being shy and extremely introverted, it took months of badgering for them to convince me to do it. Even though things have not gone to plan, and the sales never came. In no way do I blame my friends for asking me to try this; it was then and will always be MY decision.
If anything, I thank them for introducing me to some great friends and writers, whose support I am forever thankful for.
True, I did come across some nasties, some of them got me to the point of quitting, but my friends stood by me, and I am so pleased they have.
Even when my friend Emma Oram who runs Vintage Script magazine said she loved a story of mine, I was still not convinced of my value as a writer.
Fifteen months later, things have changed a lot, I KNOW I am a good writer and can tell great stories but unlike the masses out there who flood the shelves with cheap sex and zombie stories. I paid the price for originality of thought.
If you are wondering about this picture, imagine the demons I have had to fight this year; each month I have a great struggle to convince myself it is worthwhile.
INSANE PRICE CUTS
Off the shelves for a few days but back at an INSANELY LOW price are the following books. Hunted down, the final part of the Pat Canella stories. The 5 story multi-pack, it was 4 but I have one last piece to the jigsaw to add now. The award winning Chronicles of Mark Johnson book 1 of what would have been four - you didn't want it - now book 2 will probably never surface.
From my view, it takes months to put a story together, working all hours and all I would have got was a few cents for months of work. But, as NOBODY cared, why should I now. You can go back to your zombies, cheap sex and whatever trend people jump on this year; I tried to write an interesting and challenging story and got spat on for my troubles.
All I can say is you don't know what you have missed out on, but there again. Why bother when the shelves bulge with bilge ridden zombie stories. I know how Edgar Allan Poe and H.P. Lovecraft felt, the only difference is I won't get recognition for my work. All I wanted was a few sales and even that was too much too ask.
I will probably not be able to get my new story in the Apocalypse anthology that we are doing on Facebook, it isn't that the time frame is too tight; the last entries don't need to be in until February 10th. It is that with the group late, and limited spaces, I am running out of spaces.
Book 2 of the Chronicles series is coming along well, my editor Julia and I are really pleased with it and I have just added another section, to give an even more dark feel to this part of the proposed four book set.
Later today, I will start on the revised edition of The Old Church ghosts. This will be a really spooky feel, so different from what you have read so far. I need to get back to what I used to be known for, writing chilling ghost stories :)
