On the site, Disqus there is a page disqus.com/home/channel/writingworld/ where my writing is in high demand, my sales have stopped but being appreciated as a writer always meant more to me.
This is a link disqus.com/home/discussion/channel-writingworld/a_taste_of_italy/ to the beginning of a short romance about a Jewish writer returning to Israel to solve some mysterious happenings in his life.
This will be the last post about my charity cause.
I think I went wrong by trying to tell people I was sending money to Israel, all that did was bring hatred to my door.
I wonder if I had been selfish and made the cause getting the covers for my books, would I have had more donors because apparently, GoFundMe has a list of success stories - mine wasn't one - on the other hand, I should have remembered my philosophy based on my finding over the years.
People with money are willing to tell you about their wealth but are loathed to give you some, even if it means helping others.
I am trying to run a GoFundMe campaign hereiamattheedge.blogspot.co.uk/p/gofundme.html#.WINo-4iLTnA and a Biblical passage came to mind about a poor man giving a few shekels he couldn't afford secretly, while the rich man gave a big show about donating the little he gave
This is pertinent to me because as an independent writer, I don't make enough to donate to charity, but I write for charity.
Recently, I contacted several large pro-Israel organizations in the USA with the (small) hope they may spare a few dollars for my cause, but I doubt they will; I found out years ago that people with a lot will tell you all about their money, but won't help the little man.
In my mind, there is no doubt I have become like my nemesis - my stepson - where I once was happy in my writing, now I am content to waste the days doing nothing.
To some people, the idea of me watching a TV series in Hebrew may be a surprise.
I don't see why, after all, I watched series in French (Braquo), Danish (Borgen), Swedish (Broen), Flemish (Salamander), Norwegian (Mammon) and Italian (Inspector De Luca) to name a few, there are many others I could name.
To me, foreign films are an excellent way to picking up the language, which is why I prefer to watch The Killing and Wallander in their native tongue - in translation you lose so much, as I saw when I looked at the US version of The Killing.
While Sofie Grabol oozed a hidden sexuality, the lady in the US version reminded me of an old style studio actor who had been forced to play a role.
The Soren Malling role was brilliantly played, in the US version, the character comes over as a klutz.
While I admire Kenneth Branagh's work, I feel that Krister Henriksson is better suited as the Swedish detective, Wallander.
In short, I can understand why people don't like subtitles as it takes a lot to read, listen and not miss the action but I am happy to do it.
I probably won't be going to Israel hereiamattheedge.blogspot.co.uk/2016/10/flight-to-israel.html#.WHkZ8fmLTIU , even if I won the draw.
One of my wishes this year was to attempt to learn to speak Hebrew as I have several Jewish friends, and to this end, I enrolled in a free course on www.duolingo.com/
I am attempting to compile a mailing list, so when I put out new short stories, my regular readers can have a first notice email.

Longevity is a thing most people would desire, but not me.
I was plagued by inerited genetic flaws and combined with long life, the future doesn't look good for me.
I am breaking with my credo and starting to drink beer, something I haven't done since I left the RAF.
With no sales and suffering from depression, I need something to keep me going - or do I?
