I am still writing the books and blog and can be found at http://hereiamattheedge.blogspot.co.uk/
In three days time this blog will close for good and I will be off line, except for contact with a few friends and my editor, Julia.
The domain will continue until June 2015 but I won't be using it after the 11th of December.
Financial restraints and a lack of things to say on here added to the fact it didn't bring sales caused the cessation of activity. I know you won't miss me, nobody reads this anyway, and there are many more FREE reads on line.
Yin and Yang, black and white or chalk and cheese-contrasts exists in life.
None more so than in my writing, while the Amazon rating for all books connected with my name rose to the high point of the last quarter, my rating sank to yet another low point-why the contrast?
The all book rating includes the writing for "The Peacock Writers" charity books, which have sold another two copies this week :), whereas the Kindle rating is my work and after the latest bombshell about my writing http://alsdomain.weebly.com/1/post/2013/12/the-price-of-honesty.html#.UqM81dJdXDM I am not surprised I haven't sold anything in six weeks and being honest-as is my tenet-I don't think I will again.
My work isn't affected by seasonal trends as there is no ups and downs in the sales market, only slight rises from the floor; like a punch drunk boxer refusing to admit defeat, my books stumble from one bad month to the next and onto a bad quarter, and finally to a dead year.
I always doubted my ability and this latest news drives the point home cold and hard, nobody wants to read what I write.
Please, no platitudes about a depressed market affecting sales, I know writers who sell books for 10 times the price of my e-books and by the hundreds a month and all I ask for months of work is less than the price of a coffee-nickels & dimes not dollars.
If you wonder why my blog isn't about pushing my books constantly at you, that is because I tried that last year and the plan failed badly, so, I decided to try and coax a few sales from FREE reads-bad mistake :(
Although I haven't had a sale in over five weeks, my erotica rating on Amazon has gone up constantly over the past three days.
Love of the Sea might well end up closer to 175 pages and with a new cover, I am also thinking of bringing it out as a book.
When I wrote the original version, the story appeared full at 1,500 words.
Then, my good friend Yezall told me it was the most read short on her site and asked had I thought of enlarging the plot, which at the time I hadn't considered.
The original 1,500 word story, which I thought I might stretch to 5,000-if I was lucky-is now over 31,000 words (126 pages) and still growing.
This total makes the book larger than Chronicles of Mark Johnson by 50% and yet, if I get to doing Elfenmere Rescued, even this will be dwarfed I think.
This morning I had the idea for a Christmas exclusive.
I thought about putting the four versions of "Old Church Ghosts" out on one book, and then decided not to because I realised it would be a wasted effort as the version on sale hasn't sold in 6 months.
The idea came to me because versions 1-my original-and version 2-the first publication of the story-have not been widely read.
Version 3 is the most popular, the family ending is on sale in the charity book http://alsdomain.weebly.com/23/post/2013/05/a-spooky-fall-harvest.html#.UqBYLtJdXDM , please remember this is a book for charity and I, nor any of the other friends who contributed to the book will see a dime.
The final version is the adult themed ending I wrote in June, and this is not (!) family friendly http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0085ZXWEI
As I said, I had the idea and final, then came to my senses and realised few people if any would be interested-it would be no problem to find the files on my laptop.
The picture at the head of the article is the alternate cover to my version done by my good friend, Yezall Strongheart; she also did the cover to my award winning book "Chronicles of Mark Johnson," http://www.amazon.com/dp/B008BEDMSO
I am amazed at the amount of readers and pages this blog gets.
Again, I find myself thanking you for another brilliant day, yesterday's figures of over 500 readers and pages read was the best for 2 weeks-I can't thank you enough for reading the blog.
If only I knew what I did right, I might be able to get a few sales for my books.
Project Invisible involves re-editing, writing and mixing book 3 of the Chronicles of Mark Johnson.
Nobody cared for books 1 or 2, and although this is a wasted effort, Mark is a favourite of mine and he deserves a good time after the s@@t Annette Palmer put him through in book 2.
This is being written for my friend Ruth too, as she is the only person, other than Julia, my editor, who has shown an interest in my work.
For some time I have been trying to build a family history, tracing back to the people I never knew.
To most people this isn't a major task, ask mam or dad, but my mother and I haven't been on talking terms for many years, so the task is hard as you can imagine.
Last year I was able to confirm a family story concerning my late Uncle John during WW2 http://alsdomain.weebly.com/1/post/2013/08/service-life.html#.UpzUj9JdXDM a story which might be printed in the next edition of Vintage Script magazine, which is edited by my friend Emma Oram http://alsdomain.weebly.com/9/post/2013/11/vintage-script.html#.UpzVF9JdXDM .
Tonight, I think I might have located my Uncle Len, there can't be many Len Oliver's living in Redcar, Teeside, with a wife called Alice. What makes it even more remarkable is that I only visited the house 3 or 4 times before we moved to Bristol over 50 years ago :)
I am trying to do for my grandchild, Jake, what I never had the chance and that is to have some family history.
My grandmother died when I was 3 and we left Middlesbrough when I was 7; the next thing I knew my grandfather died when I was 16-my children are lucky, they have memories of their grandparents, I have none.
I have decided to stop putting books on Kobo, it has taken nearly a week for this book to appear and this isn't the first time, from now on I will use Amazon. I only used Kobo because a 'friend' of a 'friend' said she could only get book from there and would like to get some of mine to read-which was another one of the many lies I heard last year.
This page is for a general chat.
