I could have made some good money writing over the last month, the problem is I was required to write Fake Reviews of hotels.
The first offer ($6) came from a San Francisco lawyer; last night I was approached by a firm of travel writers who were willing to pay ($12) for what appeared the same job. I applied to the travel firm on oDesk, because their introduction page said they wanted stories about holidays/places that inspired books & stories.
Both offers are tempting, although the amount is pitiful, when I can make more for a few articles than I do with my e-books in any month, can you blame me for considering the offers?
The dilemma would have been, could I live with myself, knowing I lied to get a few dollars for writing? I cannot give a true answer, all I can say I was ashamed to consider the original offer seriously, even for a few minutes. I didn't give the second offer a second glance.
These offers only confirm my original view, on line writing jobs are no more than cheap publicity. You need to remember, most of these places pay thousands of dollars a year for publicity, so why ask somebody who has little influence?
