Last night I was asked if I would be interested in co-writing a book. I had no previous contact with the person who asked, so I could not form an opinion of their request. I don't know if the person has any knowledge of my work either.
The request was vague and nondescript, also I was given no details of the style of story involved, so, as yet I am in the dark about the project. I have been asked three times before to co-write and none materialised for various reasons.
While on the German Bookrix site, I was asked by a friend if I would help write a romance for a friend of a friend who had paralysed after a riding accident. The lady in question had lost all feeling below her waist. Before we could start, my friend's friend had a mental breakdown and couldn't recall her name from one day to the next.
The next occasion happened in late 2012. Two friends and I were heading a writing contest on Facebook and decided to collaborate for a book, we were close at the time. However, at the end of the contest, they got 1st & 2nd and I was pushed to 4th -- the contest was rigged --- read my blogs I must be good and She won. After the contest they went on to better things and I ended up fighting the urge to quit.
At the time of the third offer, I had not written a children's story. I was a part of The Peacock Writers -- a children's charity group -- but didn't realise I had been invited. The person who asked me to write belonged to the charity group Indies In action who we wrote for. This project fell through because I few months later, I left after a dispute over the way our book was being promoted.
While this opportunity may follow the rest as something which was suggested but failed to materialise. If it does amount to a solid proposal, I am tempted to ghost write for the book. I am not ashamed to be connected to the book, or of any of my work -- including Sexual Explosions 1 or Sex at the Mill -- I have a reason to stay in the background. My reason for staying in the background is I aim to try and join a ghost writers association, and need two ghost written books to my credit to get accepted.
