My views on the EU are well documented on this blog and my LinkedInprofile. One post www.linkedin.com/pulse/cameron-merkel-pact-alan-place?trk=hp-feed-article-title-publish has had nearly 250 readers, it's incredible for me on LinkedIn as I rarely get more than ten readers for a post.
As I have many friends in the USA/ Canada, I thought it only fair to pass a few comments on my the upcoming elections.
From the off - I am a supporter of Bernie Sanders www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/jun/16/bernie-sanders-will-work-with-clinton-donald-trump-speech.
Hilary Clinton www.independent.co.uk/news/people/hillary-clinton-trolls-donald-trump-on-his-geographical-skills-a7085241.html, I feel cannot be trusted. I don't know if it is a personality trait or that she realised the best way to progress is to be deceitful, but her record since Watergate watergate.info/ appears to be based on lies and hoping they won't be discovered.
I won't go into the sexual proclivities of the family, in my view, all parties were consenting adults. Therefore, they were able to make rational choices. The scandal was caused by a jealous lady, not the participants.
In my view, electing Mr Trump www.theguardian.com/books/2016/jun/17/could-he-actually-win-dave-eggers-donald-trump-rally-presidential-campaign would be a disaster, not only for the US but the world in general. He might be a semi-successful businessman; don't forget he's been declared a bankrupt FOUR times but a good politician he is not.
Many people compare DT to Hitler; this is not a good comparison as Hitler was a puppet and Mr.Trump is the puppeteer. A better comparison in my mind would be either Machiavelli www.historytoday.com/vincent-barnett/niccolo-machiavelli-%E2%80%93-cunning-critic-political-reason or Richard Neville www.englishmonarchs.co.uk/warwick_the_kingmaker.htm both men were very good politicians.
You only need to see that DT told the voters what they wanted to hear to realise he is a manipulator.
His goal from the start was to disrupt theRepublican Party www.gop.com/ voters. This standpoint would give the impression he was working to put Mrs Clinton in office but from what I saw, he was wasting his time. My friend, Julia, asked me to watch several GOP debates so that she could read an outside opinion. My view is that they were more interested in the in-fighting than putting a policy for the nation forward. If I'd been a voter, I would be pleased to vote for either Lindsey Graham www.lgraham.senate.gov/public/ or Bobby Jindal www.biography.com/people/bobby-jindal-20841 577.
Jeb Bush gave me the impression he was there only because he was a Bush family member. Historically speaking, neither Bush or Marco Rubio where in with a shot - Florida like many Southern States has not produced a President.
In my view, the biggest gaff came from John Kasich www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3644949/I-just-t-John-Kasich-4th-Republican-governor-won-t-Trump-says-breaking-pledge-like-getting-divorced.html when he said he'd pull troops out of the fight with ISIS. When you are fighting a war, as the adage says The best defence is a good offence. If you pulled out, ISIS would go storming across Europe and before long you'd be on the back foot fighting a defensive war. Perhaps, this is his plan, like Woodrow Wilson's Isolationist views between the wars; these days things have changed with enemies able to bomb without being in your country www.express.co.uk/news/world/634128/World-War-3-North-Korea-threatens-USA-wipe-out-whole-Kim-Jong-un. North Koreamight seem too far to send missiles but in 1941 people didn't count the threat from Japan seriously until Pearl Harbour.
Since 1941, the world has progressed (?) to a point where no nation's threats can be discounted.
