The scan is to determine how badly damaged the tendon is before the surgeons cut a segment out, to enable regrowth. This operation will leave me bed-bound for several weeks.
How my world has shrank in the last 5 years. Back then, I would go to gigs, and shows in Cheltenham. I was well known at the Folk festival, both by organisers, and friends who sang there.
Four years ago, I made my final trip home to Yorkshire. A journey I had been trying to make for over 25 years. At was at this time I wrote the stories The Ghost of St. Mary's and The Rocking Lantern. Both available from Amazon and Barnes & Noble. http://www.barnesandnoble.com/c/alan-place
Three years ago my left tendon tore restricting travel to the North Bristol area. The reason for this restriction is I am afraid the tendon will snap again, and I need to b close to home in case of the emergency. Also, at the back of my mind is the fear I may fall under a train if the tendon goes as I disembark.
This operation comes at a fortunate time for me. I recently got ejected from a reading group, probably because a certain person was jealous of my ability to tell a story, and hold the audience's attention. I have had this happen to me before.
Usually, I don't go out much from October to March. The shortened days don't give me a lot of light, and as the weather gets worse, I worry about snow. A few years ago I had two bad accidents, and almost ended up with a broken arm.
